Welcome! I am so excited to be teaching GATEWAY for the 4th year at PLES!
A "little bit" about me...
My family...I have the most wonderful family! I have been married to Mr. Ceci for over 13 years. We have two children, Gabriel and Gracie. Gabriel is a dinosaur obsessed seven-year-old in his second year at MSR in Rome. So if you want to talk dinosaurs...I can talk dinosaurs! Our Gracie is a horse-loving five-year-old in Kindergarten at PLES! Since she sees her brother as a dinosaur "expert"...she is now trying to become an "expert" on horses! We now have three cats (Izzi, Lou, and Pepper) and two giant, exuberant two-year-old chocolate labs named Chewie and Cherry (I get their names mixed up all of the time). They all keep me very busy, especially the "puppies" (since Labs are puppies until they're ten!!)
My education and experience...I have been teaching in Bartow County for 15 years now. I have taught grades 1-4 and special education. This year will be my 4th year as the PLES gifted teacher. I received my Bachelor's Degree from Georgia State University, where I studied Developmental Psychology. I received my Teacher Certification and Reading Endorsement through The University of Georgia. I finished my Master's Degree in Reading and Literacy at Walden University in the Spring of 2009. I completed my Gifted Endorsement in 2015 and my Science/S.T.E.M. endorsement through Kennesaw State University and the MSP grant last summer! Apparently, I can't get enough of "school", so I'm currently working on my Specialists Degree through Piedmont College!
Some of my favorite things...I LOVE to read and to hike. I enjoy everything about nature and being outside: hiking in the mountains, walking on the beach, watching storms blow in, and observing birds going about their busy little lives around us…yes, I'm an avid bird-watcher (or used to be when I had more time)! I am an animal lover though and through. I will rescue anything, but Mr. Ceci doesn't think it's a good idea to bring all of those critters home! I enjoy all forms of art and being creative...it gives me much joy to see such creativity developing in our gifted students!
Last but not least, I truly enjoy teaching! Nothing is more exciting than seeing a student's face light up when they realize they have learned something new, which is a bit harder with gifted students...they come to me with so much knowledge and so many questions about things I haven't ever thought about before! I have to stay one step ahead of them all the time! I love the challenge of teaching and advocating for the gifted and talented students at PLES! Thank you for sharing your precious (and precocious) children with me!
